Background: Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD), Non-Alcohol Steatohepatitis (NASH) have a worrying worldwide expansion up to liver cirrhosis, hepatocellular carcinoma, aNd becoming the most common indication for liver transplant. They also represen a risk factor for other illnesss such as cardiovascular disease, stroke and diabetes within the whole range of metabolic syndrome (MAFLD). Moreover, silent liver NAFLD may affect over 30% of obese people. There is a huge mass of empyrical data coming from Traditional Chinese Medicine but they hardly fit into modern therapeutics, being scattered, poorly controlled and tested for very short regimes. On the western side, vitamin E has raised some serious concerns and the herratic pharmacology and narrow acting modality of sylimarine have shown shortcomings so far. Other promising experimental results with natural extract have then failed on rigorous clinical testing or shown hepatotoxicity Objective: Our aim has been to develop a multimodal and higher bioavailability liver-protecting compound by working on meticulous functional food screening and testing while, at the same time, expanding the action on metabolic pathways associated to NAFLD. Methods: After several years of in vitro and in vivo studies (showing its superiority vs common liver protectors), our group came up with a novel mixture (LivProTM, LAB Health Care Products, Texas, USA) obtained by a detailed high-technology powered extraction and purification of effective components (oleanolic acid and saponins-rich ginsenosides, lignans, phenolics and steroids-rich eucommiaceae extracts and alpha-OH-ursolic triterpene derivative) in a vegan enteric-coated engineered capsule. This compound was tested in a multicenter study with one year follow up across 3 continents and dealing with NAFLD/NASH with different degrees of concomitant diseases (metabolic syndrome, diabetes, obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia, etc.). Results: No side effects were reported. The data clearly showed that, irrespective of the ethnicity, LivProTM significanly improved liver steatosis and markers of inflammation, Insulin-resistance and fibrosis and some key liver genes, Also patients not duly complying with associated dietary guidelines showed a lower but significant improvement. Fibrosis scores were also significantòu improved. Conclusion: LivProTM is expected to yield the first ranking as liver anti-“inflammaging” support, amenable to safe long term supplementation. Thomas J. Webster’s (H index: 126) degrees are in chemical engineering from the University of Pittsburgh (B.S., 1995; USA) and in biomedical engineering from RPI (Ph.D., 2000; USA). He has formed over a dozen companies who have numerous FDA approved medical products currently improving human health in over 30,000 patients. His technology is also being used in commercial products to improve sustainability and renewable energy. He is currently helping those companies and serves as a professor at Brown University, Saveetha University, Hebei University of Technology, UFPI, and others. Dr. Webster has numerous awards including: 2020, World Top 2% Scientist by Citations (PLOS); 2020, SCOPUS Highly Cited Research (Top 1% Materials Science and Mixed Fields); 2021, Clarivate Top 0.1% Most Influential Researchers (Pharmacology and Toxicology); 2022, Best Materials Science Scientist by Citations (Research.com); and is a fellow of over 8 societies. David L. Wilson, PhD, is the Robert Herbold Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Radiology, Case Western Reserve University. His research has focused on biomedical image analysis (e.g., registration, segmentation, machine learning classification, and measurement) in clinical and preclinical models as well as development of section-and-image 3D microscopy systems for high resolution imaging of large samples. In the last several years, he has focused on intravascular OCT, CT, and optical imaging in cardiovascular and cancer applications. Professor Wilson has been PI on numerous federal and state grant awards, and has numerous peer-reviewed publications. He serves on editorial boards, NIH study sections, and conference organization committees. Honors include selection to the Robert Herbold Chair and award of AIMBE Fellow. At CWRU, he has served as PI on major development grants, PI on the doctoral student NIH T32 Imaging training grant, and adviser to numerous graduate and undergraduate students, all of whom are quite exceptional. Dr. Wilson is a founder of BioInVision, Inc., which commercialized cryo-imaging. Dr. Wilson received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Rice University, Houston, TX.

Danny Bluestein, professor of biomedical engineering at Stony Brook University, has been named the 2021 recipient of the Savio L-Y. Woo Translational Biomechanics Medal from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME). The award recognizes an individual who has translated meritorious bioengineering science to clinical practice through research, education, professional development, and with service to the bioengineering community. The award was established in 2015 by the Bioengineering Division (BED) of the ASME. Bluestein’s research interests include the elucidation of physical forces that regulate cellular function in flowing blood, and translation of this knowledge to numerical and experimental strategies aimed at optimizing the thromboresistance of Mechanical Circulatory Support devices, multiscale modeling of thrombosis, and enhancing clinical diagnostics of cardiovascular diseases processes and progression for developing strategies to achieve better clinical outcomes of procedures and devices for patients who suffer from these diseases. Bluestein has received several major honors and awards including the Established Investigator Award from the American Heart Association (AHA) and the Quantum award from the NIH-NIBIB. He is a fellow of the Biomedical Engineering Society and fellow of the American Institute of Medical and Biological Engineering. Bluestein has been inducted into the National Academy of Inventors, and his research has been sponsored by various federal agencies and private foundations including the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation and the AHA. He is the author of 146 peer-reviewed scientific articles and serves as an associate editor and member of the editorial board of several bioengineering journals. Bluestein is an active member of the Biomedical Engineering Society, Bioengineering Division of the ASME, and served as the chair of the BED Biofluids technical committee and the Steering Committee of the NIH Multiscale Modeling Consortium. Bluestein received a BS in aerospace engineering from Technion-Israel Institute of Technology in Haifa, Israel, and a MS in fluid mechanics and PhD in biomedical engineering from Tel Aviv University, Israel.

Xianfeng Chen is Associate Professor in Physics and Bio-nano-photonics at the School of Science & Technology, Nottingham Trent University, UK. He leads the multidisciplinary research in advanced biophotonics, nanomaterials, fibre optics, biosensors and biomedical areas. He has authored 3 book chapters, filed 2 patents and published 145 papers (h-index: 33), and has led over 20 research projects attracting funding from EU Horizon 2020, FP7, ERDF, Royal Society, WEFO. He is the Module Leader for MRes Research Project (MRes/Medical Imaging, MRes/Physics), The Professional Physicist, Current Topics in Physics. His teaching contributions include Lab & Physics Skills, Medical Imaging, Professional Physicist, Current Topics in Physics, and supervisions of BSc, MSc, MRes and PhD projects.

Yong-Xiao Wang has been a Full Professor in Albany Medical College (USA) since 2006. Dr. Wang has had extensive research experience in basic, translational and drug research concerning pulmonary hypertension, asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, diabetes, and cardiac arrhythmia for over 30 years. As the Principal Investigator, he has/had numerous NIH R01 research awards, AHA Established Investigator Award, and various other grants, for which he often holds/ held NIH R01 grants with other awards each year. As the corresponding author, first author and key contributor, he has had numerous publications in highly peerreviewed journals including Antioxid Redox Signal (impact factor: 8.209), Proc Natl Acad Sci USA (9.432), Nature (34.480), Circ Res (9.214), etc. Dr. Wang has been the editor of academic books in the field including one entitled by “Redox Signaling in Health and Disease Pulmonary Vasculature” that was published by Springer (New York) last fall. Dr. Wang has also served as the editorial board member and/or section editor for the Clinical and Translational Medicine, Pulmonary Circulation and several other journals.

Dr. Gajendra Sharma completed a doctoral degree in Information Systems Engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology, China. He received a degree of Masters of Engineering in Electronics and Communication in 1997 from Moscow Technical University of Telecommunication and Informatics, Russia. During the following years, he was employed in different IT companies and corporate organizations in Nepal as a professional engineer. He had also worked in managerial and academic positions in different companies and engineering institutions. He also served as chief of the engineering campus in Nepal for six years from 2005 to 2011. Besides managerial and technical work experience, he has been engaged in academic activities for more than twenty years. His research and teaching interest is focused on information systems, e-commerce (including e-business), strategic management of information technology (IT), IT adoption, design and evaluation of IT infrastructure, strategic management of IT as well as e-governance and ethics. Moreover, he has research interest on crisis and emergency management. He published research papers in some of the top-tier information systems and IT journals such as Information Systems Frontiers, Internet Research, Information Technology and People, Telecommunications Policy, International Journal of Web-Based Communities and Electronic Commerce Research. He published more than 100 papers on information systems and technology in international journals and conference proceedings. He is a reviewer and technical editor of a number of peer review journals relating to information systems and IT. He worked in Liaoning Technical University, China at the Department of Information Systems as an Associate Professor from 2011-2014. He completed postdoctoral research on IT Management (e-governance and ethics) from Dalian University of Technology, China coordinating with Delft University of Technology, Netherlands. In the meantime, he has been working at Kathmandu University, Nepal.

Alan D. Wang is currently an Associate Professor with The University of Auckland. He has more than ten years of research experience in radiology informatics and integrated medicine, especially in advancing the role of medical informatics in health care. His research interests include medical imaging informatics, computational life science, and biomedical statistics and simulation. He has developed computational methods for mobile health, tissue segmentation, lesion detection, function localization, multi-modal data visualization, and personalized prognosis based on statistical learning theories. He has experience in analyzing huge cohorts of patient data with applications of early diagnosis, disease understanding, and effective treatment of patients with degenerative diseases. He serves as an Editorial Board Member and an Active Reviewer for several international journals.

I obtained my five-year degree in chemical engineering in 2009 at the University of Murcia (Spain) and a master's degree in electrochemistry in 2011 at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (Spain) and a PhD in electrochemistry in 2017 at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (Spain). I have a wide experience in research institutions along Spain (Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Autonomous University of Barcelona, Microelectronics Institute of Barcelona -IMB-CNM, CSIC-) and Europe (Institut für Fertigungstechnologie keramischer Bauteile, IFKB, Stuttgart, KTH Royal Institute of Technology , Stockholm University, Stockholm), including six years as a postdoc. During these years I have gained a strong background in optical and electrochemical transduction, micro/nanotechnology, biosensing and microfluidics within the framework of eight national and two European (as PI) R&D projects and six R&D and innovation contracts with companies in Spain, USA or Germany. Rami Ahmad El-Nabulsi holds a PhD in Particle Physics, Mathematical Physics and Modeling from Provence University (currently Aix-Marseille University), France and a diploma of advanced studies in Plasma Physics and Radiation Astrophysics from the same institution. He worked with different worldwide research departments in UK, South Korea, China, Greece, Thailand, India, etc. and he is currently affiliated to the Czech Academy of Sciences. He is the author of more than 365 peer-reviewed papers in peer-refereed reputed journals and a reviewer for more than 200 scientific journals. He has been selected as the World's Top 2% Scientists 2021 and 2022 (by Stanford University). His research ranges from applied mathematics to theoretical physics.
