In 2004, we started to develop a group contribution method aimed at estimating the temperature dependent binary interaction parameters (kij(T)) for the widely used Peng–Robinson equation of state (EOS). Because our model relies on the Peng–Robinson EOS as published by Peng and Robinson in 1978 and because the addition of a group contribution method to estimate the kij makes it predictive, this model was called PPR78 (predictive 1978, Peng Robinson EOS).

Mohammed Dallag is a Senior Global Domain Expert with SENSiA. He has been working as a Reservoir and Production Engineer from February 1997 to now with Sclumberger. With more than 27 years of experience in upstream oil and gas projects, Dallag is the OFM software champion in SENSiA. Dallag has contributed to SENSiA and Schlumberger Solutions projects worldwide and has led the development and deployment of technologies for quickly and cost-effectively analyzing reservoirs using SIS software and other software. Dallag is a certified NExT instructor and expert in Reservoir Engineering consultancy projects. He applied waterflood, Water encroachments, Workover candidate and Infill drilling workflows studies. He has also implemented reservoir surveillance systems in real-time environments in Saudi Aramco, Kuwait Oil Company. During studies and implementations of reservoir surveillance systems (OFM) he also gained experience with Avocet and Petrel. Dallag bublished a lot of SPE papers and was awarded the best SPE Paper (third place) from the Saudi Aramco Journal of Technology in summer 2008. Dr.Abdeen Mustafa Omer (BSc, MSc, PhD) is an Associate Researcher at Energy Research Institute (ERI). He obtained both his PhD degree in the Built Environment and Master of Philosophy degree in Renewable Energy Technologies from the University of Nottingham. He is qualified Mechanical Engineer with a proven track record within the water industry and renewable energy technologies. He has been graduated from University of El Menoufia, Egypt, BSc in Mechanical Engineering. His previous experience involved being a member of the research team at the National Council for Research/Energy Research Institute in Sudan and working director of research and development for National Water Equipment Manufacturing Co. Ltd., Sudan. He has been listed in the book WHO’S WHO in the World 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2010. He has published over 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals, 200 review articles, 30 books and 150 chapters in books.

Jean-Noel Jaubert is Professor of Chemical Engineering Thermodynamics at ENSIC (Ecole Nationale Superieure des Industries Chimiques). A Grande Ecole like ENSIC is a state-run institution of higher education characterized by a highly selective admission procedure and is thus restricted to the best 10 % of high-school students. He was born in 1967 in Marseille, France and received his doctorate in 1993 from Aix-Marseille University (France). He is reviewer for over 80 leading international journals, member of the editorial board of five international peer–reviewed journals, and has published around 200 research articles in renowned international journals. Since 2010, he is the French delegate at the working party thermodynamics and transport properties of the European Federation of Chemical Engineering and currently runs the research group “Thermodynamics and Energy” of the LRGP (Laboratoire Réactions et Génie des Procédés) and chairs the French working party of thermodynamics. He organized several international conferences and is member of the International Steering Committee of ESAT (European Symposium on Applied Thermodynamics), JETC (Joint European Thermodynamics Conference) and JEEP (Joint European days on Equilibrium between Phases). His research interests include the development and parameterization of equations of state, the measurement and correlation of liquid-vapour equilibrium under high pressure, the development of the entropy scaling concept to correlate transport properties and the use of a product design approach to select efficient working fluids for innovative power and refrigeration cycles.

Dr. Hejazi received B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and Ph.D. in Chemical and Petroleum Engineering in 2011. He joined the faculty of the Schulich School of Engineering at the University in 2013 after working in industry on the development of oil recovery techniques from naturally fractured heavy oil reservoirs. Dr. Hejazi leads "Interfacial Flows and Porous Media" laboratory at the University of Calgary and his research focus includes interfacial flows, liquid-solid interactions, soft matter, and porous media science especially with applications in health, energy, and environment systems. In particular, he uses experiments, theory, and simulations in hydrodynamic instabilities, wetting and evaporation dynamics, reactive flow in porous media, microfluidics and HPHT visual micromodels, multiphase flow in reservoir rocks, enhanced oil production, liquid-cooling of electronics, and design of novel interfacial materials for 3D printing.

Dr. Annapurna Boruah is an academician, geoscientist, energy explorationist, and sociopreneur. Currently, as a senior Associate Professor at UPES, Dehradun, she is leading Applied geology program and many projects in CCUS, geothermal, shale gas and energy exploration. She is also actively involved in different key initiatives of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG) and the Ministry of Education. Dr. Boruah has published over 50 scientific papers, 4 books, 2 patents, and numerous project reports. Her research findings have been widely disseminated through esteemed publishers, including a notable project on new hydrocarbon prospect identification in Northern bank of the Brahmaputra, Assam, which was published by Nature publisher.

Dr. Kesarwani is currently working as an Assistant Professor in the department of petroleum engineering, school of advanced engineering at UPES, Dehradun. Before that he also worked at Presidency University, Bangalore as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Kesarwani is a young faculty who has done his bachelors, master’s, and doctorate in petroleum engineering from the recognized university. He has worked on the drilling fluid design, cement slurry preparation and testing for oil wells. Apart from that, he has extensively worked on the chemical EOR during his doctorate. He has published several papers in the international peer-reviewed journal and attended various international and national conferences to present his work. Dr. Kesarwani has also delivered keynote talks at various international conferences. Currently, he is working on the testing on the nanoparticles derived from the green leaves (bio source) for multiple oil fields applications.

Reservoir Engineering and CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization, and Storage) are at the core of my professional interests. With a background in Petroleum Engineering from Sharif University of Technology, I have been fortunate to engage in research and teaching roles that deepen my understanding of geochemical modeling, reactive transport in porous media, and geomechanical processes. My experience spans advanced reservoir simulations, with a particular focus on Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) techniques such as Engineered Salinity Waterflooding. I also have experience in applying numerical mathematics, optimization, and economic evaluation within the oil and gas industry. I am continually seeking opportunities to expand my knowledge and contribute to innovative projects in these fields.
