Mr. Faisal has around 20 years of professional experience in the energy sector (both in multinational and public sector organizations) with sound international exposure and extensive involvement in energy policy, regulatory affairs, clean energy transition, environment mitigation &
adaptation, net zero carbon strategy, single buyers and multiple buyers electrcity markets, electricity market reforms & development, techno-economic valuation, competitive auctioning, bidding documents, power plants performance, Environmental and Social Impact Assessment of Power Projects, risks analysis, contract administration, project finance and tariff structuring of electricity generation & infrastructure projects. Currently, he holds the position of Director at PPIB, Ministry of Energy, Govt of Pakistan. Moreover, He is a member of many national and international energy research and policy advisory forums including his role as an Associate Fellow,

the University of Engineering and Technology Lahore, “Master in Energy Management” from CIIT Islamabad, “Master in Business Administration” with Gold Medal from SZABIST Islamabad, Pakistan, “M.Sc. in New and Renewable Energy” with Distinction from Durham University,
United Kingdom and MRes International Development with Distinction from University of Bath, United Kingdom. Besides, he attended a number of national and international trainings in the related areas. Currently, he is a UKRI-ESRC-funded Doctoral researcher at the University of Bath, UK. His research is on Climate Sustainability and Energy Transition focusing on the Socio-Political, Policy, Economic, and Justice implications of Clean Energy Transition in Pakistan.
In his official role, He has supported the successful deliverance of several policies and plans of the Government of Pakistan for the energy sector including his lead role in developing the SDG7 road map in collaboration with UN-ESCAP. He also supported the completion of multi-billion dollars’ renewable and conventional energy projects, formulation, and implementation of various strategies, negotiations of concession agreements for IPPs, upfront tariffs for multiple generation technologies,
ongoing energy sector’ reforms and electricity market development contributing to sustainable socio-economic development of the country. He has also participated in several community development initiatives purely in a volunteer capacity.
